Tisane is a beverage that’s the result of an infusion of dehydrated, flowers, seeds, roots, spices, herbs and other plants. It usually doesn’t contain caffeine. These are generally used in natural medicine, taking advantage of its ability to include calming, stimulating, sedating, therapeutic and other effects. With this infusion the water is permeated with its beneficial properties. Tisanes differentiate from teas because they don’t contain strands of the Camellia Sinensis tree and therefore it’s incorrect to consider them a tea. The ideal brewing temperature for tisanes is between 195-212°F with a recommended infusion time of 5 to 10 minutes.
